Partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain, but several are missing. First, your dentist will make a few dental impressions and take some measurements on how your jaws align. Then, they will make models of how your dentures will appear, and you may have a few partial denture fittings to ensure that the shape, color, and alignment of the dentures are correct. The partial denture will be cast with any missing teeth, and they may also include a metal framework and/or crowns to keep the denture in place.
